i have a valid pa drivers license.|||Like the previous answers stated, make sure you have your birth certificate, passport or social security card. Proof of residency is important as well. You'll want to declare yourself a Florida residency through the government.
You have to go to the "DMV" to get it changed, but as a non-Floridian, be careful because they aren't clearly labeled DMV. I am from Pennsylvania and moved to Florida. I found it out the hard way in Tallahassee, the Driver's License centers (at least in Tally) are in the buildings labeled "Tax Collector". I drove to three different addresses that I got from the Florida DMV website until I realized the theme.
Also, they wouldn't accept my visa credit card. Only checks, mastercard, and discover. That could've just been the one I went to, but I just thought I'd warn you.
And yes, they took my old Pennsylvania license as well. :(
Good luck!! (I found it quicker than Pennsylvania DMV's at least.)|||Florida just passed a law requiring birth certificates with gaining a new license, even if you already have one in Penn., you still need to show your birth certificate when obtaining a new license.|||yes, go to dmv in florida for a new license. good luck and enjoy florida.|||United States Citizens
Florida law requires identification, proof of date of birth, proof of residential address, and proof of social security number (if issued, Chapter 322, Florida Statutes, requires the Department see proof of social security number for the issuance of driver license and identification cards) from all customers before a driver license or identification card can be issued. The name assigned to the social security number must match the name that will appear on the Florida driver license or identification card. If you have recently changed your name, update your records with the Social Security Administration before you apply for your license or identification card. Each U.S. citizen who applies for an original driver license or identification card must submit:
I. Primary Identification - One of the following (5) documents:
Certified United States birth certificate, including territories and District of Columbia (the birth certificate must be issued by a government agency. Hospital birth certificates cannot be accepted); or
Valid unexpired United States passport; or Passport Card
Consular Report of Birth Abroad
Certificate of Naturalization , Form N-550 or Form N-570
Certificate of Citizenship, Form N-560 or Form N-561
After that, you trade your valid PA license for a FL one.
