What does the 13 characters stand for in the Florida drivers license?

What does the 13 charaters stand for in the Flordia drivers license?

- DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO READ THEM? I UNDERSTAND THAT THE 1ST LETTER IS THE LAST NAME LETTER AND THAN THE BIRTH DATE IS INCLUDED - WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED??? IS THERE A REFRENCE OR WEBSITE THAT CAN HELP?|||After the letter, the first three numbers indicate the gender of the license holder. Under 500 is for females and over 500 is for males. I think that the next three numbers are random, but I am not 100% sure. The next two numbers are the birth year of the holder. The next three numbers indicate the month and date that the holder was born. The three digits when added together will equal the sum of the month number and the date. The last digit indicates how many licenses the person has held in other states.So as an example if you had a license that was A123-456-78-901-1. It would b broken down as follows. 123 indicates a female driver. 78 is the year the driver was born. The actual birthdate can vary but for the last three digits we will say that the drivers month and date of birth is May 5. 5+5 =10 as does 9+0+1=10. The sums should match. The one indicates that the driver has held one license in another state. I am not 100% sure, but I think that the reason they keep the second set of digits random is to ensure that they don't issue the same number to more than one person. There could be alot of females whose last name begins with A who were born on May 5 1978 and have had a license in another state so I think that is what helps them make sure that they don't run out of numbers to issue people who may have the same variables|||You are very wrong. Below is a link to a site that has an explanation of the code:

|||Florida:

This state issues photo-laminated ID with the state seal and camera number overlapping the photo. The license number follows the Soundex system and begins with the first letter of the last name and looks like this: J123-123-39-123. The two digit group is the birth year. An additional trick is that minors under 21 have a yellow background on their photos. The most difficult to overcome trick used with this license is state seals printed in ink visible only under ultraviolet light.|||I actually know this one, as I grew up ion florida.

The first letter is for your name

the next numbers are the designation for the name in driver's license code and sex/gender. This number changed when I got married and my last name changed.

after that the three digits are random mine just happens to be simular to my social

then the year you were born

then the actual licence number

finally the last single number designates if it is an original or duplicate or coded for the penal system or if there are specific restrictions. I've heard this one is also for reference to other states, but I have lived in three and held licenses in all and the number has not changed.

0- designates you are a normal generic driver.

and Michelle that class you took is incorrect. the three digit number you are talking about for the month and date of birth does not equal mine--in any way I add it up.
