Hi,
I am a 17-year-old male who is a resident of New York as well as Florida.
I primarily reside in New York, but if I visit Florida, and I successfully take a drivers test and receive my drivers license, will I be able to drive legally in New York?
Thank you for your time.|||Yes, you just have to transfer your license to New York if you want the license to say New York. You are allowed to drive in every state since Florida gave you a license.|||All states recognize each other's driver's licenses, but only if you meet the age requirement. If you are not old enough to drive in NY, you are not allowed to do so, even if you have a license from another state that lets you.
And besides, if you "primarily" reside in New York, Florida probably won't give you a license anyway, depending on what you mean by primarily.|||Florida and New York are strict insurance states.
To be valid, you must have New York insurance; however, they will honor your FL license as long as you are maintain a residence in Florida.
If you are a student and return home during your breaks, then you can get your Florida license and be valid to drive in NY.|||i got my drivers licence in florida and shortly after moved to michigan you generaly have 6 months to change it and that is just a transfer so it sould be fine
